Andriy Klyuyev is a Ukrainian businessman and politician. He was born on August 16, 1964, in the village of Nizhnie, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Klyuyev started his career in the early 1990s as a businessman, operating in the energy sector. He later became involved in politics and has served in various government positions, including as Minister of Economic Development and Trade and as Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs under President Viktor Yanukovych.
Klyuyev is known for his close ties to Yanukovych and the Party of Regions, which was the ruling party in Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. He played a key role in Yanukovych's presidential campaign in 2010 and was seen as one of the most influential people in Yanukovych's inner circle.
During the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, Klyuyev fled the country to avoid arrest and was later placed on the European Union's sanctions list for his alleged involvement in the violent crackdown on protesters. He currently resides in Russia and has been charged with high treason and embezzlement in absentia by the Ukrainian government.
Despite his controversial political career, Klyuyev remains one of Ukraine's wealthiest individuals, with an estimated net worth of over $200 million.
